Chris Nelson (AKA Los Guys RC President, Mayor) has spent the past six years putting on Bikes & Bugs events for the benefit of children with epilepsy.  Unfortunately, now he is in a situation where he could use assistance himself. He has developed a medical issue called Diverticulitis, which is an intestinal inflammation that can permit bacteria into the abdomen area, thus causing infection and can be a life threatening condition.

He spent about six days at Sugar Land Methodist trying to beat the infection with antibiotics, but was unsuccessful. During this six day period, they took several CT scans, and did a laparoscopic procedure and a wash-down of his abdominal area, then he was admitted into ICU where he underwent surgery to remove a section of his colon. It was a rough six days, but unfortunately, it's not over yet.

As of this writing, 7-3-2012, he has been in the hospital for 12 days. He is still semi-sedated in ICU. A second surgery added a temporary colostomy, and a third surgery occurred to adjust the colostomy and try to sew him back up. He has another surgery scheduled for this afternoon with the possibility of 2 or 3 more next week.  If you know Chris, you know he's hating being stuck in that bed, unable to move or communicate... and going through this for so long.  He really appreciates the prayers, love and concern that his friends have shown him by coming in to see him and contacting his family to check on him. It has meant a lot to his family as well.

One can only imagine what kind of medical bill this kind of service is going to generate and unfortunately he, like millions of other Americans, doesn't have health insurance. Many of you have asked what you can do to help...

In anticipation of these expenses, we are setting up the following "donate button" and asking friends, family, business associates and fellow clubs to consider a financial donation. We all know how much charity money Chris has raised for others, and now he needs our help. Whatever you can do will be greatly appreciated!  Thanks in advance for any assistance you can offer!
